A new medical center in southern Israel has opened. The Hadassah-Helmsley Netivot Hospital will provide high-quality medical care to 150,000 residents of the western Negev.
Southern Israel has a new hospital: The “Hadassah-Helmsley Netivot Medical Center” was opened with a ceremony on Thursday. The new facility aims to save patients long journeys and provide them with advanced diagnostics and treatment locally.
Among those present at the opening were Knesset Speaker Amir Ochana, Health Minister Chaim Katz, and Environment Minister Idit Silman (all three from the Likud party). Netivot is located about 11 kilometers from the Gaza border. The town is considered a developing city in Israel, and most of its approximately 45,000 residents have low to middle incomes.
Modern Equipment
The new hospital offers the more than 150,000 residents of the western Negev “access to world-class specialists and state-of-the-art medical equipment.” According to its own statements, it covers a wide range of specialties, from ophthalmology to orthopedics.
