Palestinian water company cuts off supply in the Gaza Strip

A Palestinian company in the Gaza Strip that desalinates seawater has halted the drinking water supply in the coastal enclave.

Employees are protesting the arrest of one of their staff members by Hamas. The terrorist group has not given any reasons for its actions. Josef Jassin, a board member of the Abdul-Salam-Jassin company, explained that the shutdown affects more than one million people – roughly half the population of Gaza. “But the protection of our employees is paramount,” he said.

The transport company that distributes the water has also temporarily suspended its services.
